After leaving Rouen we continued our trip down the west side of France to Jard-sur-Mer where we had booked to stay in a static caravan on a Canvas holiday site.
We arrived for the check in time at 5pm and was met by a canvas holidays rep who spoke french with a Scottish accent. He was a nice friendly chap and we all soon realised that french wasn’t the common language.
It’s the first time I’ve ever been on a caravan style holiday, but so far the caravan looked well equipped. Everything was a little cramped, but there was still three bedrooms so the kids could each have a room.
The best part of these complexes are the swimming lol I think. We spent quite a lot of time here with the flumes, lazy river and kids pool there was quite a lot of things to keep us occupied. It was also a great opportunity to test the kids swimming skills again as they hadn’t been in a pool since lockdown.
We also took a couple of trips down to the beach which was about a 10 minute walk away, when you go the right way. A nice sandy beach that we could build sandcastles on and have a dip in the sea.
The town centre of Jard-sur-Mer is a typical french town by all accounts. Shops to buy veg, bread and meat. Everything closes at lunch time. We spent one afternoon browsing the high street. Eating ice cream and drinking wine. It was lovely.
