Return to the mainland

We were up early, packed and tidied. We paid our bills, which included sorting out some confusion over the cost of the high chair and nearly caused us to miss the ferry. Toby napped for most of the morning conveniently waking in time to get in a taxi back to Penny and Eric’s.

After organising a few bits, we headed down into town for lunch at cbar. Toby was not in a cooperative mood so lunch was a little challenging, but the food was good and there were chocolate brownies for pudding. On the way back, we passed a nail bar and I remembered that the nail polish that I’d had put on for a wedding before we left the UK was shamefully overdue removal! An hour and half later, and a new colour put on, I headed back to the house to find a napping Toby. How Jamie got the pushchair containing the sleeping baby down the twenty stone steps into the house without waking him I’ll never know!

We all had a quick splash in the pool, which was not the warmest thing as the sun had gone off it. We talked about plans for the next stage of our trip, like hiring a car and booking accommodation in Cairns. Nothing like a bit of last minute organisation!

Penny and Eric returned from the farm and Penny created a lovely dinner, mmm fish! Lovely chatting with them over dinner. We definitely are going to miss their company when we have to move on to Cairns.
