Sydney – Orientation

Last night we arrived in Sydney and made our way through the airport with no issues through to where a taxi was waiting to take us to our hotel.

We are staying near central station in a place called the Adina apartment hotel. It’s a does what it says on the tin hotel it’s a load of small apartments with a hotel like service.

Just outside the hotel we sat and had breakfast at a place called Coffee Trails, lovely food! Mmm avocados!

Walking from here, we headed towards the wet bit, passing through Darling Harbour. Darling Habour has obviously had some good money spent on it as it was bursting with restaurants, parks, water features and other amenities. We found a ice cream parlour and ate Movenpick ice cream to give us some inspiration and work out what to book for the next two days.

For day 2, we have booked to go up and see the Blue Mountains. And on Day 3, Jamie has booked the backstage tour at the opera house. Eeeee so exciting!

After ice cream, we headed towards the bridge. I remembered on my last trip to Australia (18 years ago) that you could go up one of the bridge towers. A number of steps later we had a fantastic view of the bridge and the harbour. Windy, but an excellent view.

Heading back to the hotel, we stopped off in an area called The Rocks. We wandered about a bit and had some dinner in a pub. Then headed back to the hotel on the train. That was a new experience too; public transport with a pushchair. So many lifts…
